dōjō - a hall or place for immersive learning or meditation

My name is Jasper Liu. I’m an elite-level lightweight rower in the USA, and I learned to row as a freshman in college in 2013. You can read more about me here.

I've learned a ton about all aspects of the sport over the past eight years, but had to look all over the internet, have read a ton of books, and have had access to some of the best coaches in the country.

With the Dojo, I'm attempting to share the best and most useful of that info all in one place. I don't think that has been done before, and I hope that someone will find it useful.

I also don't think that anyone has written out a full description of that the rowing stroke FEELS like to the athlete and how to achieve that. My page on How to Scull (well, the whole site, really) is something that I wish all coaches and rowers should read.

This is a resource that will be useful for anyone who is a competitive rower or coach already at any level - from juniors through elites.

Unfortunately, a lot of rowing coaches in the US right now do not have much experience beyond what their high school or college coaches taught them. And nothing against those coaches — props to them for still growing the sport! But I hope that the Dojo will be a great resource for them to learn from the top level of the sport.

Nothing is for sale here. No memberships, subscriptions, private coaching, etc. I just believe in helping people that want to get better.

And even if my competition reads the site: I don't want to win on race day because you haven't had the same opportunities that I have had. I want to win because I executed the training and the racing better. And I'm still a step ahead of you because I've already figured this out first 😎

The site will continue to grow, so let me know what else you'd like to see!
